LIFE IS SHORT. GET GOOD THERAPY.

EMDR and IFS Therapy Intensives

You want tangible relief.

Maybe the weekly sessions with your talk therapist are ok but you’ve been rehashing the same stuff and going in circles.

Or you don’t have a regular therapist, don’t want one, and just need to work through some things to feel your best and move forward again.

Either way, you don’t have time to waste.

You are motivated to heal from a longstanding issue that’s been holding you back or to tackle a recent event that’s rocked your world.

You have a block you need to break through or a pattern that’s driving you crazy.

Therapy intensives, which are extended 3-hour sessions using effective trauma approaches such as EMDR, IFS, or ART, provide faster relief by offering concentrated time to do the healing work and by skipping the longer wait for weekly slots.

Why choose a therapy intensive?

If you have done therapy in a 50- or 60-minute timeframe, you know that it often leaves you hanging and wishing you had more time.

Weekly sessions usually begin with a check-in to find out any important updates from the previous meeting and end with time for grounding and closing. This means that your actual time doing the deep work of healing is limited.

An intensive format, in contrast, provides a solid 3-hour block of time dedicated to resolving a particular problem, without the starting, stopping, and wait in between that tends to break up and delay progress.

This highly focused structure allows for more effective processing and much faster progress than the start-stop format of one-hour weekly sessions.

While some issues can be resolved with one intensive, others will require additional sessions. Feel free to inquire about how many intensives may be indicated for your unique situation.

You may be a good fit for a therapy intensive if:

  • You experienced an embarrassing or humiliating event that you can’t shake. You may be a performer, an athlete, or other high-achieving professional

  • You experienced childhood trauma, neglect, or abuse

  • You have unresolved grief

  • You experienced a recent or sudden loss

  • You had a difficult relationship with a caregiver, partner, or coworker and you wish to decrease their negative impact on your life and your self-esteem

  • You have negative beliefs about yourself that leave you fearful of mistakes or feeling not enough

  • You have a regular therapist but need specialized, short-term trauma work or aren’t seeing any progress.

  • You’ve had EMDR, IFS, or ART before and you know it works well for you.

FAQs

    • Intensives help you feel better faster.

Everyone is different, but it is not uncommon for someone to achieve in 3 continuous hours what might normally take at least 1 month or longer.

    • Though upfront fees are higher, intensives save you time and, due to accelerated progress, save you money in the long run.

    • Intensives are good for people who travel frequently, who have inconsistent schedules, or who have a hard time taking time off work or arranging childcare for weekly therapy.

    • Intensives work well for people who do not want ongoing therapy but need targeted healing on specific issues.

    • I generally have faster availability for intensive sessions than recurring weekly slots.

    1. Set up a free 20-minute consultation to make sure an intensive format is the right one for you.

    2. During the 3-hour intensive, we'll clarify your goals and begin the healing process using IFS, ART, EMDR, and/or other transformative approaches tailored to your unique situation.

    3. Monitor your progress for 1 week post-intensive.

You may have reached your goal and be done!

Or you may wish to schedule another 3-hour intensive to maximize progress or to begin working on a new goal.

  • This depends on several factors, such as: your primary goal, the nature of that target, your personal history, and whether you’ve had therapy before, currently have a therapist, or have strong support and solid grounding skills.

Sometimes, slower is actually faster. Always, safety is primary.

The consultation call is the best way to estimate how many intensives may be indicated and to answer any questions you may have.

  • Yes! Some clients prefer biweekly or monthly intensives over weekly therapy.

Additionally, clients who desire concentrated short-term work or who have travel-heavy schedules may wish to schedule multiple intensives within a short timeframe.

Intensives can be shaped to accommodate your individual needs, including home visits. Please contact me for special requests.

  • The rate for intensives is $350/hour:

    • 3-hour intensive processing sessions are $1,050.

    • There is no deposit required.

    • You have the flexibility to add additional 3-hour blocks as needed.

While some issues resolve with one intensive, others may require additional days.

There is no need to commit to a multi-day program beforehand, because you simply may not need it.

  • Yes! EMDR and IFS therapy intensives are an excellent way to supplement regular talk therapy. They can help you resolve a traumatic experience or stuck pattern. I am happy to collaborate with your therapist if you wish.

  • I am not in-network with any insurance plans. However, your PPO plan may reimburse a portion of the fees. Please note that insurance plans require a diagnosis for possible reimbursement. Please connect with your insurance provider for more information.

  • Intensives take place:

    • in person at my office in the Beverly Grove area of Los Angeles.

I do not conduct intensives online unless arranged in advance.

    • on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30am-12:30pm.

  • Yes! Clients have traveled to Los Angeles and enjoyed time in this great city while also seeing me for an intensive.

My office is located in the Beverly Grove area near the Original Farmer's Market and The Grove LA with many restaurants and shops to enjoy and hotels nearby.

The office is less than 10 minutes to West Hollywood, 15 minutes to Beverly Hills or Hollywood, or 30 minutes to Santa Monica, though much here depends on traffic!

  • Due to safety concerns and the short-term nature of intensive work, intensives with me are not appropriate if you:

    • currently experience suicidal ideation or self-harm

    • primarily wish to treat substance use or other addiction

    • primarily wish to treat an active eating disorder.

The only potential exception to the above is if you are currently under the care of another primary therapist and receive ongoing care.

  • I conduct intensives differently than most other providers:

    • With me there’s no need to buy a package, complete a workbook, or meet again post-intensive (unless you wish to). This saves you time and money.

I found these elements increased costs without yielding significant benefits, so I switched to an hourly, streamlined, no-frills model, with the flexibility to schedule additional days only if needed, all at the same hourly rate.

    • Facility with several transformational approaches (EMDR, IFS, ART, brainspotting, Flash Technique, etc.) allows me to easily and effectively tailor the intensive to your individual goals, needs, and preferences.

    • To make intensives as accessible as possible, I do not require an upfront fee to book your intensive. This way, you don't have to worry about losing a non-refundable deposit.

However, if you cancel late (less than 72 hours for intensives), prepayment in full will be required to reschedule.
